Le Bruit du Silence wins the Yugo BAFTA Student Awards 2024
The MoPA school is thrilled to announce that the film "Le Bruit du Silence", directed by 2023 MoPA graduates, has won the top prize at the Yugo BAFTA Student Awards 2024 in the Animation category this past Saturday, July 13, in Los Angeles.
"Le Bruit du Silence" continues its award-winning journey! This graduation film from MoPA Animation School, directed by Marjorie DUTRIAUX, Téo FRANTZ, Dora ÖZAL, Damien RUDEAUX, and Violette TALALAEFF, tells the story of Maryline, a young woman who is a victim of sexual violence. She goes to the complaints office seeking help, only to quickly realize she is facing a world of indifference and rejection, which eventually shatters her into a thousand pieces.
After 18 festival selections and 3 prestigious awards (Premier Prix du Chilemonos International Animation Festival, Grand Prix Étudiant de l’Animakom Fest et Meilleur Film du Festival de Cinéma de l’ESSEC), "Le Bruit du Silence" has now received one of the most prestigious recognitions by winning the Yugo BAFTA Student Awards, with the ceremony held on July 13, 2024, in Los Angeles.
The BAFTAs (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) are often referred to as the British equivalent of the American Oscars or the French Césars. Established in 1947, the Academy comprises around 6,000 professionals from the fields of film, television, and video games. This year, among the three finalists in the Animation category, two were films made by former MoPA students! In addition to "Le Bruit du Silence," the beautiful film "Après Papi," directed by Swann VALENZA, Florian GOMES FREITAS, Juliette MICHEL, Victoria LEVIAUX, and Axel SENCE, was also flown to Los Angeles. While only one short film could win, our students representing both MoPA films had an unforgettable time with their fellow graduates!
The entire MoPA team is extremely proud of the journey their former students have taken and extends congratulations once again to the team behind "Le Bruit du Silence" for this incredible award, as well as to the "Après Papi" team for gaining international recognition.
